The material in the anode of the alkaline battery is a zinc metal powder. Its production is carefully monitored to ensure its chemical purity and accurate particle size. These provide a surface quality which enhances the reaction of the battery. Indeed, a good quality surface enables contact with the anode with a larger number of particles, thereby reducing the internal resistance of the battery to generate more intense power.
[...] The electrolyte is an alkaline PH. The solution of the concentrated potassium hydroxide has a high ionic mobility. Construction A stack is designed with conventional active materials and the alkaline electrolyte is stored in a steel case which is plated with nickel. The mixture of the powdered manganese dioxide of the cathode can be pressed against the inner surface of the steel case by two processes: Spraying the powder under high pressure; or By using the powder from the cathode annular pellets of high density, inserting into the case and establish contact with the wall of the battery. [...]
[...] The high conductivity of the electrolyte allows the battery to maintain a high rate of discharge and continuity. It is also the result of internal resistance and a low operating temperature A plastic strap is sealed to the battery with putty and prevents leakage of electrolyte. The cap is separated from the positive anode by an insulator. A leading mechanism is incorporated in the plastic strap to protect the battery against breakages and damages due to misuse in abusive conditions. [...]
