Primary health care (PHC) is a fundamental and consistent approach that facilitates a holistic, community-based opportunity to provide individuals and families with accessible, comprehensive care. It encompasses community, society, individuals and adapted, accessible services, which are at the heart of the preventive approach and health promotion. Primary care is demonstrating its importance in the early diagnosis, education and ongoing support of people with osteoporosis (Dawson et al., 2021). Primary care teams, such as physicians and nurses, can implement screening programs, promote lifestyle changes, instill knowledge about diet and physical activity, and refer patients to specialists when necessary (Porter et al., 2023). Encouraging patients to become actively involved in their bone health is part of a comprehensive and effective strategy that includes preventive measures and methods to reduce the impact of osteoporosis and related fractures on individuals and healthcare systems worldwide.
