An intranet is an internal company network that uses the Internet standards of HTML HTTP and TCP/IP communication protocols along with a graphical web browser to support business application and provide department, interdepartmental and company wide communication solutions. An intranet uses a Web server, but unlike an Intranet-based Web, an Intranet Web server is only connected to a company's local area network. An intranet can also use news and mail servers to create private newsgroups for intranet and to send and receive mail for users. In other words, an intranet uses the tools and the standards of the Intranet o create an infrastructure that can be accessed only by those within a corporate enterprise. Our aim is to develop an Intranet that can provide general information about the company's employees, projects and clients. The Intranet is used to improve the communication among the employees and allowing them to share documents. The prototyping paradigm begins with requirement gathering. Developers and customers meet and define the overall objectives for the software, identify whatever requirements are known, and outline areas where further definition is mandatory. A "quick diagram focuses on a representation of those aspects of the software that will be visible to the customer/user (e.g., input approaches and output formats). The quick design leads to the construction of a prototype. The prototype is evaluated by the customer/user and used to refine requirements for the software to be developed. Iteration occurs as the prototype is turned to satisfy the needs of the customer, while at the same time enabling the developer to better understand what needs to be done.
[...] User's Side Access : A registered employee shall have a login id and password with which he/she shall be able to access the Intranet from any computer in the company. Search and download : Employees can able to search any information like employee details, client details, files etc. A download option enable them to download documents, read me files, service packs etc. [...]
[...] The intranet will be used by the software developers and they are involved at the earliest stage of software development. They can easily understand and use the functionality of the Intranet after its implementation. PROPOSED SYSTEM There are two aspects of proposed intranet. One is the administrator's side, and the other is the user's/employees side. Let us concentrate on the administrator's side for the time being and see what all functionalities need to be provided here. Administrator's Side Restriction on access : Securing the access to the administrator's terminal is the first and foremost requirement. [...]
[...] If you want to find some particular rows, you would have to enumerate each step of process like this: Look at a row of a table. Perform a test to see if it is one of the rows you want. If so, store it somewhere until a whole table is examined. See if there are any more rows in the table. If there are more rows, go back to step 1. If there are no more rows, output all values store in step 3. [...]
[...] A Database system maintain information and makes that information available on demand, for this purpose a database system provides set of facilities to perform such operations. For example, adding new empty files in database, inserting new data in existing files, retrieve data, update data, delete data, query the database etc. ADVANTAGES The most important advantage of the database is to maintain the integrity i.e. it ensures that changes made to the database by the authorized users do not result in a loss of data consistency and guard against accidental damage to the database. [...]
[...] You can change the layout , logic or content of the HTML page in a blank of an eye. Browser independence: The most important advantage of ASP is that it is browser independent. Since ASP executes on the server, you do not need to worry about the browser being able to execute the script. You can use ASP to retrieve the browser capabilities and act accordingly. Using this feature, you can customize the content to be displayed to the user for different locations. [...]
