Abstract

This presentation talks about Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. First of all it begins with a clear description of SMTP, how it is implemented and what are the alternatives used on mail servers after which it explains what authenticated SMTP with pictorial representation is. Following this it moves on to the explanation of SMTP server, POP Mail and SMTP commands like HELO, MAIL, RCPT,QUIT,HELP, SEND and so on. It then concludes with the explanation about reply digits from server which is a reply from the mail server in the form of a three digit number followed by text describing the reply.
