The first step to assembling a pc is acquiring all the necessary parts needed. These parts are encased in a case known as the chassis. The parts are; The PSU (the power supply unit) whose role is to convert outlet power (AC) to direct current which will then be used by the internal parts of the computer as well as provide them with appropriate voltages and currents, the motherboard which is the electronic centerpiece of the computer, the CPU (central processing unit) which is the brain of the computer, RAM( Random access memory)which is the short term memory of the computer used by the cpu, Hard drive/hard disk which is the long term memory of the computer, the optical drive, video card /graphics card/GPU. You will also need external parts such as the keyboard, mouse and monitor (Cahalan, Ipp and contributors 4). It is essential that one collects and takes an inventory of all the parts needed in the assembling of the PC before starting the process.
One should also make sure that they clear their time, well as create plenty of working room before starting the assembly. The working space should be big enough to allow the laying out of all the parts to ease assembly.
[...] Inspect it for any visible defects. Go through the motherboard manual and once you have completely understood the functions of the various sockets secure it onto the PC. Installing the CPU and CPU heat sink This is perhaps the most difficult stage in the assembly of a computer. When installing the CPU unlock the CPU socket first, line up the pins and place the chip in its socket, align the triangular CPU and socket key marks then lock the CPU in place. [...]
[...] The computer user is also able to gain skills which he can use to customize his computer according to his needs. Learning this process and consequently assembling one's own PC is also time saving, economical, fun and satisfactory (Cahalan, Ipp and contributors 1). [...] Follow the instructions that come with the CPU to the letter. Studying the diagrams that come with them is also important Installing the CPU heat sink may require one to exert a bit a pressure to secure it. The details for installing different CPUs also differ hence the need to strictly follow the instructions provided. One should also avoid putting on the computer immediately the CPU is installed as this may cause overheating and consequent damage to the CPU. One should also be careful to install the cooler properly and that all its components are placed correctly and in the right place. [...]
