Knowledge, DNA, molecular biology, James Watson, Francis Crick, Copernicus system, Nicolaus Copernicus, heliocentric model, science
My exhibition will explore the theme "knowledge and the knower." Knowledge is an ever-evolving aspect of life; there is no actual limit to knowledge; hence along the timeline of this universe, humans will keep on making discoveries revealing new Knowledge, which may influence our established values or beliefs.

[...] This object changes our belief in Santa Claus by giving us knowledge that Santa Claus is nothing more than a fictional character in kid's storybooks. It also changes the child's values once they find out there is no Santa Claus, and they don't have to act in an exemplary manner; hence this object significantly relates to my prompt. Object The Copernicus System 3 Above is an image of the Copernicus System developed by Nicolaus Copernicus and the geocentric model developed by Ptolemy. [...]
[...] Can new knowledge change established values or beliefs? Introduction: The prompt I have chosen is "Can new knowledge change established values or beliefs?". Object Discovery of the DNA double helix by Watson and Crick 1 This object enriches this exhibition as its discovery marked a milestone in molecular biology. [...]
[...] As I have mentioned before, knowledge is an ever-evolving aspect. The discovery of the DNA double helix has resulted in humans being able to do things that were deemed impossible a few decades ago, such as mapping the human genome and gene editing. We can connect this object explicitly to the prompt because the belief before the discovery was that we had no control over how an organism is developed, be it a plant or an animal. Now with the new knowledge we can alter the growth of plants suited to our needs which has resulted in increased crop yields; we can develop replacement tissues for worn-out joints and design a personalized baby by altering the embryo's genetic makeup. [...]
[...] This object significantly relates to my prompt as the new knowledge of the heliocentric model proved the geocentric model wrong, and this new knowledge changed the beliefs of the people. I have chosen this object because it tells us how much of the universe is left for us to discover; I am fascinated by the idea of how over a century, we have made such rapid advances in astronomy based on the discovery of the Copernicus system and the idea of how much we will advance in the next couple of decades.
