There is a high amount of litigation related to water, considering that Canada is one of the major fishing sites. Federal fisheries act was made in order to prevent water pollution by prohibiting discharge or deposition of substances which can be harmful to aquatic animals.
The UK is historically an industrial country, the motherland of the industrial revolution in the 18th century.
On the other hand, Brexit occurred, and there are no more bounds to the European Union. The United Kingdom doesn't respect EU environmental policies anymore.
