Slavery is a social institution and probably the most compelling of situations. It can be defined as a system in which people are treated as an owned asset. They can be held against their will and also deprived of the right to leave or demand wages. In ancient societies, it was legal for an owner to even kill a slave. In general, slavery is very often based on racism or prejudice of superiority of one ethnic group over another, where the ethnic difference is between the owner and his slaves.
[...] It is currently estimated that 200 million children are forced to work in the world (as against 52 million in 1979), especially in southern countries of Africa and Asia where children work each day in dangerous and exhausting jobs. Thus, there are children in the mines, weaving industry and many such sectors. Children are even forced into prostitution to earn money to pimps and are torn from their parents.
