Many different types of warfare have been used over the past century. There is conventional warfare, which is conducted by using conventional military weapons and battlefield tactics between two or more states, and unconventional warfare which refers to raiding, guerilla, and insurgency. Bioterrorism fits into the unconventional category, because it is done in a rather clandestine way. "Bioterrorism is the intentional use of harmful biological substances or germs to cause widespread illness and fear." It is not to be confused with chemical, nuclear, or radiation attacks, which cause immediate damage.
[...] You might ask what you can personally do to prepare for a possible Bioterrorism attack. There is clearly nothing you can do to prevent any attack, but there are safety precautions that you can learn and practice. One way to prepare, is to install High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters into your furnace return duct. The goal of these filters is to remove particles in a certain micron range, and filter out many biological agents that may try to enter your house You should always remember to follow the instructions handed out by officials in the event of a Bio terrorism attack, since it takes time to figure out exactly “what the illness is, how it can be treated, and who is in danger” (RI department of health). [...] entitled Unit 731, continued through 1945, and by this time they had accumulated approximately “400kg of anthrax to be used in a specially designed bomb.” [4]However before the stockpiling of this mass amount of anthrax, the United States launched research on the uses of biological agents for offensive purposes in 1943. Even though this was during the time of Unit 731, the research was actually in response to a German threat, and was conducted at Fort Detrick. In 1973 numerous countries including the United States and the UK created a prohibition against the development, stockpiling, and production of biological toxin weapons. [...]
[...] The most likely uses of this toxin in a Bioterrorism attack would be by breathing in the toxin or ingesting it through food or water. Outbreaks can occur due to improperly prepared home- canned food, or improperly prepared food in restaurants. When infected, the muscles are paralyzed. There are three types of botulism; Foodborne, which leads to illness within hours or days.
