We are all born to love; whether this is a gift or a curse has yet to be decided. In the world of George Orwell's 1984, to love is to commit a crime of treason. On a shallow level, this portion of totalitarianism appears completely unjust. But if one is to look a little deeper, and understand the emotions contained within the act of loving, one would see exactly where the government of Oceania is coming from, and why it monitored so closely the reasons behind any intimate act. In a lot of ways, the world would be a simpler place if sexual relationships existed for the sole purpose of procreation.

Domestic violence has become such a problem for police that various statistical studies have gone into effect to try and find a way to qualm repeating offenders. Most animals come together to mate, then separate; sometimes the female even kills the male. The Bible is built on this foundation that, like animals, the human race is designed to come together in marriage to produce more of the species. Of course, the Bible is worded this way in the hopes that more children equal more followers. [...]
