Democracy allows people to make choices. We can see it for instance nowadays with the choice of being vaccinated against coronavirus. In France, there is the possibility for a group of citizens supported by senators to make a referendum. Hugo Clement, a journalist, decided to use this possibility to create a referendum for animals. This aims at protecting animals, improve their living conditions, their breeding, etc.
[...] Especially recently with Amy Coney Barrett's nomination. The fact that the President nominates judges takes off power from citizens. In my opinion, people should be able to choose who is going to judge them. This could also be seen in the election where American citizens don't vote directly for who they want as a president, but they vote for electors who are going to vote for the president. So, the election is not direct, and this takes power from the citizens. [...]
[...] They are supposed to make decisions more adapted for the whole nation. But sometimes democracy is contested. For instance, during an election, there are always some people who challenge the results. In the case of the election of Emmanuel Macron, a part of the nation chose to vote for him in the only aim to counter Marine Le Pen. But those who didn't like Macron's ideas are frustrated even if they voted for him and used their power coming from democracy. This is also the case for Joe Biden's election. [...]

It is the freedom of expression which is one of the most important rules of democracy. But today, the issue of freedom of expression is controversial. In fact, since the attack at the Bataclan, we can wonder if the freedom of expression is still efficient or if people are now afraid to write what they think. To put it in a nutshell, I will say that, in my opinion, democracy is the best governing system, but it presents some flaws. [...]
