The ever growing population in Albany, New York is now approximately 19,306,183 residents. Of the 19,306,183 people residing in Albany, New York more than half, 67.9% make up my race. Albany, New York has 15.9% average of African American, 15.1% of Hispanic or Latino, 0.4% of Native American or Alaskan Native, and 5.5% of Asian persons residing in the city. I am part of 67.9% bracket of Albany, New York. I understand that we do not live in a perfect world and I know that not all people feel the way I do when it comes to racial differences. However, I feel the differences brought to our community from the various ethnic groups and races enrich our community and city. Our city embraces the similarities and differences of those in our community.
During our summer months, Albany has a free concert series that is offered to Capital Region residents. The summer concerts occur every Thursday and are called "Alive at five." I make an attempt to attend the concerts because they showcase various cultural music types and dedicate that Thursday night to the culture. This year included such concerts as Reggae night, Irish night, and Latin night. Albany also has a three day event in September that is dedicated to the Polish community. It is a celebration of the Polish-American culture. During this celebration, visitors learn about the culture through food, dance, and speakers.
[...] My Place of Employment I work for a local area hospital in Albany, New York. During our orientation at St. Peters Hospital we discuss in depth the core values of the organization. These core values include compassion, reverence for each person, community, hospitality, excellence, integrity, and courage. We show respect and consideration towards the differences of all human life that enters our doors. Every single patient is given the same respect regardless of ethnicity, race, religion and creed, or their sexual orientation. [...]
