The song entitled "Boom!", by the band System of a Down (S.O.A.D), appears off their third studio album Steal This Album! Released in 2002, the album failed to meet the success of S.O.A.D's previous album Toxicity. The album was created mainly because unfinished songs were leaked onto the internet and the band felt they owed fans a finished product.
Lead guitarist Daron Malakian stated that album is "a bridge between 'Toxicity' and our next record." The album received both positive and negative reviews from critics. Some critics argued that S.O.A.D. lost their touch with music and simply put the record out using old demos and re-recordings.
Other critics praise the originality of the album and are amazed with the intricate ideas throughout the record. For example, Sputnik Music said "it's an incredible rush with every song; each being a small jewel that, while it really doesn't give the album as a whole any extra impact, gives each song a sublime sense of individuality" (Hanson 2006). Regardless of opinion, Steal This Album reached number 15 on the Billboard's Top 200 and went certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
