Chairman Mao, was popular in China, and was the major founder of the People's Republic China. His regime extended from 1949, when the China emerged as a communist state until 1976, year when he died. The political arguments and theories identified with his regime are known as Maoism.

Mao was the creator of modern China, but he has been regarded by many scholars as the figure, who almost destroyed the nation. Born in a rural community in China's Hunan province, Mao left home as a young man with the objective of having a modern education.
