The Texas border constitutes approximately half of the border between the United States and Mexico, extending from the Gulf of Mexico to El Paso. The border crisis, encapsulating security concerns and exacerbated-illegal immigration from Mexico is causing strenuous relationships between the federal and state authorities over conflicting perspectives. Under the governor's leadership, the Texas government has executed efforts to restore security along the borders by enacting border policies and laws that contrast with federal authorization. Therefore, the border crisis concerning the Texas and federal government, which involves various actors, necessitates urgent action to avoid catastrophic escalations.

The Border Crisis in Texas The ongoing dispute between Texas and the Federal government regarding implementing border and immigration policies is a significant issue affecting specific populations. Consequently, President Biden's open border policy is heightening severe security threats to Texan residents due to the potential for oversaturation of immigrants and the influx of illegal drugs and other criminal activities. [...] Hence, the federal government, through the Supreme and Appellate Courts, has denounced and challenged Texas' actions on a constitutional basis. Resolutions The growing tension between Texas and the federal government's over-regulation of immigration warrants urgent remedies to prevent further conflicts detrimental to peace and stability. Failure or inadequacies in curbing the increasing number of migrants or individuals seeking asylum is an effect of outdated and harmful immigration policies. Hence, as an appointed Texas official, I would champion open communication and planning between the state, federal government, and civil societies for collaborative decision-making in feasible solutions (NIJC, 2023). [...] Hence, court involvement is possible in decision-making regarding the right action. Different Positions and Sides The Governor-led initiatives along Texas borders have warranted criticism and opposition from several civil rights organizations and other actors. The implementation of initiatives such as busing migrants, installing barbed fences, and blocking the entry of migrants have garnered support from Texas conservatives (HRW, 2024). These state leaders have expressed satisfaction with the state-led anti-immigration actions, owing to the federal government's perceived inaction that has facilitated an increase in the migrant population and consequential strained resources. [...] The death and injuries of citizens, migrants, and bystanders during care chases under this state-sanctioned operation are a cause of concern. Therefore, there is a need for serious reform in Texas immigration policies through active collaboration between leaders and organizations to evade unnecessary conflicts.
