I have found this argument interesting because it is important to introduce to the public, the serious situation in which they are forced to work as workers of the third world. With this, I want to denounce the serious violations of the rights of the workers working in multinationals, that produce and commercialize bananas all over the world. With their methods, the multinationals not only undermine the health of who works in their extended plantations, but also they threaten the health of the consumers of the first world.
[...] As Eduardo Galleano has just written, in the third book of Memory of fire (Rizzoli, Milan, 2001): "the reign of the banana had been saved from the danger of the agrarian reform". As we have been able to see, the banana is not produced alone in Latin America, but also in Africa. That has made yes that it has become, in the second half of XX the century, object of crash between opposite imperialism, more just between the USA lobbies, that they dominated to the production of the Latin American continent and those of the European Union, than, inheriting the ways trades them of hardly passed colonialism, dominated the productions of Africa and a part of Asia. [...] Next to this point it could be thought that caught up the agreement the war of bananas ended. Null of all that. The last battle regards the amount of the custom office. The producers contest to the European Commission the measure of the fixed custom office to 176 euro/t, judged too much elevated from the mostly South American producers (that they enjoy the status of "more favourite nation"). In the regulations in force the preferential quota for the coming from imports from Countries the ACP, is maintained. [...]

It is necessary to remember that the banana from "dollars": it represents 80% of the fruits it eats you to the North and is controlled from three companies. SOME INFORMATIONS ABOUT HISTORY The production of the banana, for its high profit trades them and for being a remarkable source of profits for the great multinationals always it has been to the center of chosen and political battles. [...] The American multinationals made pressure in 1994 on the USA government, so that the WTO imposed a change of legislation EU. The same WTO, been born just that year, was looked at from endured to having to resolve a serious conflict between two main imperialist poles of the western world. The USA, the 11 you open them 1996, on behalf of the Chiquita Brands International, appeal to the WTO The legality of this regimen is contested trades them in how much makes commerce, not aid (trade, not aid) The sentence of the WTO invites the UE to dismantle the regimen of import of bananas from these countries. [...]
[...] In spite of the European powers they supported that their strategy banana boat was in order to support these poor countries of the third world, in many independent cases from little time, in their transition towards the economic self-sufficiency, in truth the greater part of the supports never did not go to favour of the producers, but was to benefit of the traders and the large distributors who operated in the same European countries. Pack-saddles to say that beyond 90% of that the consumers of the European countries paid for bananas, a 10% remained in the same European countries and single went to the countries of the Apc. [...]
