Village Infernos and Witches' Advocates: Witchcraft and Witch-Hunting in Navarre, 1608-1614, by Lu A. Homza, followed protocol diligently and studied the witch trials held in the Kingdom of Navarre during such a difficult era of cultural, social, religious, and political confusion. Through her narrative, Homza tries to find out what factors were considered responsible for the outbreak of witch trials in that region, and over time, she proves that, in a more complex way, sheds new light on that dark chapter of history. The core idea that is discussed in Homza's work is the fact that the witch hunts in Navarre should not be seen only as a form of mass hysteria, since they are closely intertwined with the socio-political world as was happening at that time.
