The film Rosemary's Baby plays on a common fear most people in society think about at some point: the existence of evil in the world. In fact, it would be safe to say that it is a story that if one were deeply spiritual could possibly think could come true; in the Bible there is detailed description of Satan sending his son to Earth as a weapon in his war with God. Even if someone who views this film is not a believer in religion, it does raise questions about the existence of good versus evil.
Author Ira Levin wrote Rosemary's Baby in 1966 and was involved with the production of the film adaptation. The plot centers on the Woodhouse couple, Guy and Rosemary, who move into an old apartment building and are selected by elderly neighbors to carry the child of Satan. There are points where the audience is unsure if Guy is indeed a willing member of the building's Satanic Coven, or is too focused on his budding acting career to care about his wife's fears (Filmsite, 2011).
