The "Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants," consists of four books. These books have solidified the series as a literary masterpiece that has been heralded as a great work for young people. It has been celebrated as a wonderful literary effort. The books evoke thoughts of serene and picturesque summers; and bring to mind the cavorting jubilance that summer brings. This is especially true for a young female surrounded by a close knit band of friends. One of the most touching aspects of the Sisterhood books is the portrayal of an unwavering friendship that is unconventional--considering the eclectic collective of personalities associating with one another. Perhaps one of the most special things about these books is that they promote the idea of accepting people for who they are. They also express the idea that associating with people who differ from you in taste can sometimes be a good thing--in this case--a really good thing.The first book begins with Carmen, the emotional Latina of the bunch, who finds the pants. All four of the girls find the pants to be really nice; so they begin trying them on. They agree that the one who fits the pants best should be the recipient of them. They soon discover that there is something special about this pair of pants; because they can all fit them… perfectly. Even the shapely and curvy Carmen-who often complains about nothing looking right on her frame-looks great and feels comfortable.
