The plot description in the back of this book fascinated me. It is a philosophy or ideal from the mind of the author, which is really almost a palindrome. This is a science fiction book with the idea that there is life on other planets but that they are just as skeptical of our human existence as we are of theirs. In most movies and aliens seen in pop culture, only humans are the naïve ones, and somehow every other alien species has incredible technology and knowledge of each others existence. This book however, considers that maybe Martians are exactly like us. They have a similar societal structure and generally do not believe in life outside of their planet.
[...] Ylla is obviously an important character, because she is really the only Martian that is excited about the potential of humans coming to Mars. The other Martians either do not believe that the humans are real or believe them to be a threat and kill them. Ylla on the other hand, considers that she may find a better, more exciting, and satisfying life if she chose to go back to Earth with the human that claims to love her and desires to make her happy.
