This document raises the issue of cultural and language barriers in the context of tourism by means of two commented illustrations.

(60 words) Whereas the tourist remains within his own sphere and explores the new culture from afar, the traveler is ready to open his mind to newness, to leave his comfort zone, even to blend with different lifestyles. The traveler adopts a positive (« curious » instead of « complaining »), respectful (« sensitive » rather than « oblivious ») and attentive attitude unlike the tourist who hasn't genuinely left his home country and compares it with the new one in a negative way.
