Researching prejudice is so undoubtedly crucial to the modern family because in order to eliminate something, we must first be fully aware of it. If it is not implemented from the very beginning of the development process that such intolerance and discrimination is totally unacceptable, a nation of growing minds will believe it is fine to judge others on pre-fixed accusations. Children need to taught right from wrong, jokes to reality, fact from fiction, etc. It is the parents responsibility to actually parent their offspring, to guide them with a balance of political correctness, common sense, and faith, to turn them into mature, intelligent and responsible adults who, while being aware of the world around them, can make proper decisions based on individuals' personal merits, rather than lumping a group of people into a category because of what they may of heard.
[...] From sexism to religious discrimination, racism to ageism; homophobes to bigots, fascists to Nazis; our world is littered with formidable scum causing people to be uneasy in their own homes and making the streets not safe at night. Take the case of Matthew Wayne Shepard for instance, a 21 year old University of Wyoming student who was fatally and savagely beaten to death on the night of October absurdly due to the mere fact that he was a homosexual. The perpetrators of this despicable hate crime were Russell Henderson and Aaron McKinney, the two men who agreed to give Shepard a drive home on the night when the brutal events took place. [...]
[...] Usually formed from already existing stereotypes, many of which have been ingrained since birth, prejudice and discrimination never leads anywhere good. Having fixed notions about someone without proper justification or evidence to support such thoughts is absolutely unacceptable in today's society. Prejudice completely demolishes human equality, and is utterly detrimental to the world we live in. It has been the root of appalling violence, wars, vicious assaults, beatings, genocides, hatred, and abuse for centuries, and is seemingly not going anywhere anytime soon. [...]
[...] Christ strictly endorsed love and unity; togetherness and harmony; peace and turning the other cheek for all of God's children. Henderson and McKinney, along with any other loathsome anti- gay hatemonger are overall just not living by The Golden Rule, which is simply "treat others as you would like to be treated", a precedent duly taught at any mass or religion class. They were probably doing something else those days, maybe colouring-in their imprudent Bristol boards with homophobic nonsense scribbled out on them? [...]
[...] And what does everyone want? The almighty dollar. That preposterous piece of paper that makes sane men ludicrous and reasonable women grotesque. So anyone who disagrees with the definite fact that man is no more civil or enlightened than the insects we so casually squash with the indestructible step of a foot is simply not familiar with the human race. Other questions are not so simple. How will one ever know there is a God? Will anyone ever understand just why such atrocious evil exists? [...]
