It is understandable why The Stranger has become so famous and named one of the greatest existentialist novels ever written. I believe this because Albert Camus created a character that has or will never be duplicated. This may seem like a stretch but at the same time it is very true. Authors are too afraid to write about a character that provokes anger in readers the way that Meursault does in The Stranger.

He was a closed person who could never express emotion because he never saw a point to it. I found that he questioned what good it would do to cry or get angry or to have an opinion. The entire story was based on Meursault committing unexplainable acts, acts that even he himself could not explain. It is an interesting question as to why Meursault never showed emotion until the end. [...]
