Tourism is a sector that is constantly experiencing strong growth, and which also has particular importance for the French economy. There are several kinds of tourism, such as cultural tourism, but also business tourism, events, or sustainable tourism. This list is far from exhaustive, with more and more players trying to differentiate themselves by proposing ever-more unusual subjects over the years. Among these different types of tourism, there is one that stands out because, unlike many others, it only concerns a part of the population, it is senior tourism.
[...] Ecological Seniors, like a large majority of consumers overall, are very interested in ecology and respect for the planet. For 72% of those over 60, this is a criterion of choice and so-called ecological tourism plays a very important role in the choice of stay. We note that 45% of seniors have already done ecological tourism, with a rediscovery of nature, in particular. Many want to find greener ways to travel or to consume during their stay. The players are also increasingly offering more environmentally friendly solutions to their customers, both in terms of transport and accommodation. [...]
[...] SWOT Analysis Strenghts Seniors love to travel, and they can do it anytime. This is the first of the strengths of the sector. It also gives them the reassurance of an organized trip where it is less useful to research beforehand to find things to do or must-see attractions. Price The advantage today, with the arrival and development of the internet, is that it is possible to find a very wide price range in the travel industry. [...]
[...] Apart from that, there are substitutes for traditional travel agencies as well as for various means of transport. They are not really a threat but rather just a part of the entire market. They are there to give consumers more choice, but multiple travel shows will never replace actual travel in the minds of senior citizens. Bargaining power of suppliers It is complicated to speak in this precise sector of "suppliers". What is certain, however, is that it all depends on the destination and the enthusiasm it arouses at any given time. [...]
[...] Players In the senior tourism market, several players are entering the scene. The first is the traditional travel agencies when tourists want to leave the French territory. Indeed, seniors, for a certain number, in any case, are not followers or are much less inclined to book online. After 65 years, and especially if they have to leave the country of seniors prefer to go directly to a travel agency to make their reservations in person. It should also be noted that certain agencies specialized in the sale of travel for seniors, the market is a real commercial niche, which justifies this type of specialization. [...]
