For the purpose of this assignment, our group was asked to carry out a fundraising event for a charity of our choice. This assignment was set to us, so we could get into the habit of generating our own ideas, running an event, and also to writing a paper reflecting upon our experiences. The first thing which our group had to decide on was what Charity we would try and raise money in aid of. The Charity which we choose to try to raise money for was Cancer research as they deal with the research into the cure of cancer and because in some way everyone in our group had known someone who had suffered or died because of cancer. During this written report I will aim to reveal a few things. I will first provide information on the profile of the Charity as this will help understand see why this is such a worthy cause. Then I will explain how the idea evolved from being nothing to becoming a big Table Quiz and raffle. After this is all done I will explain the highs and lows of this event as well as my experiences and opinions of organizing and running a fundraising event.

We think that no matter what other event we did that we would not raise this much money and were relieved that we were able to give so much money and our efforts had not been put to waste. Probably the only negative of the night itself was that we started 20 minutes later than scheduled. [...]
[...] The next thing which our group had to do was to go about advertising this event. Since the premises was a local G.A.A club we knew that if we got them involved our turnout would be a lot better so advertising around this club was extensive. [...]
[...] The next thing I learned was to better my communication skills. No class lecture could give the experience this project has given me in regards to bettering my communication skills. The reason I would recommend this is simple. During the course of this assignment you will encounter as many obstacles which will need time to sort and giving yourself as much time as possible will help you overcome them. [...]

Positives and Negatives of the Event This event was a huge success with many positives and few negatives to talk about. The main positive of this event would have to be the turnout which we received. We never would have thought that an event which we organized would have attracted as many as over 100 people which we thought was amazing. [...]
