Porsche is the most profitable car company in history. Almost all of the company supplies and deliveries are realized through the railways. During the fiscal year 2008-2009, a turnover of 11.63 billion euros and a net profit of 9.80 billion euros were achieved. In the first quarter of 2009, the company employed 12,774 employees.
However, after the financial crisis of September 2009, the Porsche firm could no longer refinance a short-term loan of 10 billion dollars that it had contracted for control of Volkswagen. The firm's most profitable car was then on the verge of bankruptcy. Finally, after a standoff of one year, the Porsche Company was bought by Volkswagen. The market for Porsche is global because it produces and distributes cars across the planet.
Currently, the market finds itself in dire straits owing to the financial crisis and changing consumer trends. Indeed, the market is highly vulnerable to various factors of influence such as economic or social ones in a very competitive sector. In addition, companies in this market must adapt to the fact that the product life cycle is becoming shorter.
Porsche's clientele comprises wealthy clients that are adherents of both luxury and sport, but also subscribing to the philosophy, spirit and history that make Porsche a car manufacturer with an almost mythical history.
