In order to better understand Amazon's SWOT analysis, it is worth going back to its history. Amazon is an American-born, Seattle-based e-commerce company. Originally, the Amazon company was only involved in distance selling of books, then diversified by offering cultural products, and finally merchants, and even food. This company, created in July 1994 by Jeff Bezos, was listed on the stock market in May 1997. In 2020, Amazon employed more than 541,900 people worldwide, had more than 175 distribution warehouses around the world and, finally, the firm is the 3rd largest company in the world in stock market terms, with more than $1 trillion in market capitalization.
