Indeed, two years before the event, French authorities are already working hard to make Paris safe for the hundreds of thousands, even millions, of people who should gather there for the Olympic Games. Estanguet, the head of the organizing committee, said that Paris 2024 is preparing for any eventuality.

It is important to remember that a new approach to Games delivery is needed: one that unites countries to bid together, deliver together and reduce the risk of future hybrid threats, whilst simultaneously doing the right thing. [...] Indeed, according to Le Parisien, cyber risk is at the top of the list of threats. The organization and cybersecurity will be mentioned during the ceremony of opening of the games foreseen on the Seine. But also the accommodation, the transport and the restoration of the forces of internal security (FSI). Plus security measures against cybercrime will be put in place such as surveillance drones and more. Now that we talked about this, we can therefore think about how the Olympic Games will handle hybrid threats in the future. [...]
[...] The idea here is to provide and to alert the countries, by any situations, even if the country is not concerned, so that the entire world can fight against it. "Whether Japan's rankings in the soft power indices will be affected only time will tell, but this is not a problem for a country alone to address, the event owners of sports mega-events need to take more responsibility to work together to embrace an alternative model of delivery. Perhaps then, we may remind ourselves of the Olympic values that will help us tackle future hybrid threats." Even though COVID-19 is the main issue we are processing right now, the question here is not only about it. [...]
