Sexual discrimination is problem that many athletes deal with regardless of their sex. Women more often deal with sexual discrimination, but even guys deal with this problem. Although sexual discrimination is still a problem today, it is not the same issue it used to be thanks to Title IX. Women are now given a lot more athletic opportunities and have most of the rights men have. Even with the improvements made to eliminate this problem, sexual discrimination is still an ongoing issue. The remainder of this paper is going to cover topics of what sexual discrimination, why it happens and cases of athletes being sexually discriminated against.

There was further evidence brought against the athletic director as he would condescendingly speak towards the female athletes like they were children. He was also quoted saying soccer was more feminine sport," because female soccer players "would look cute running around in their soccer shorts." ( The court ruled in favor of the athletes and LSU then added these programs. In June of 2002, a sample was taken to see how schools were managing their athletics funds. [...]
[...] These three factors help contribute to women not getting the same rights as men and thus leading to sexual discrimination. To help see that women would no longer be discriminated against in sports, the Title IX amendment was started. Title IX protects women in any educated program that is receiving federal funding. Prior to 1972, many athletic programs were receiving more funding for men's sports and making it harder for women's programs to continue with a lack of money. Prior to title IX, the primary physical activities for girls were cheerleading and square- dancing. [...]
