Large amounts of domestic violence that take place are under-reported and public services are not effectively helping the victims. Domestic violence can affect both genders. Domestic violence affects every 1 in 3 girls and every 1 in 6 boys before they turn 18.

[...] Who Can Educate Children on Violence Schools need to take on an approach to educating young scholars about domestic violence. This helps young children to grow up with the mindset of understanding the things that happen in people's lives and how they are able to approach them. Young children will be able to know how to handle domestic violence, say if it were to happen in their own homes. This can also be controversial to some parents as they may be against their children knowing what domestic violence is, as it can be quite a horrific thing for young children to imagine or know. [...] Other ways to help people include being there for a friend. Sit down with them and listen to them. This can be hard to hear but sometimes all somebody needs are someone to talk to. Another way of teaching children is to encourage them to not ignore their surroundings and what is happening. They need to learn to acknowledge what has happened and to take the next steps in how to help themselves or somebody they know who has been violated. [...]
