Today I would like to talk about unmixed areas. These are places, events, meetings or such that are only available to a specific gender. In general, this is about women. Which brings us to feminism. We've all heard about that growing movement across the world, mobilising people and governments from everywhere. Here's a quick definition of feminism: Feminism is a range of social movements, political movements, and ideologies that aim to define, establish, and achieve the political, economic, personal, and social equality of the sexes. The objective of feminism is to suppress the inequalities between men and women, because, most of the time, women suffer from them. Also, feminism is pursuing the women's rights in civil and private life.

[...] For example, Islandic women have been given the right to vote in nineteen seventeen (1917); meanwhile French women had to wait until nineteen forty-five (1945) to do that. The second important wave of feminist protests started in the sixties. This time, women were after economic and sexual freedom. Although women had been given “some” rights, they weren't being treated as men in various areas like salary, divorce, contraception, etc. Since then, women have been trying to find ways of bringing justice and equity into society. But, the dominant model of patriarchy, that has been going on since the end of times, makes their fight difficult. II. [...]
[...] Why unmixed areas concerning feminism? Why would anyone want unmixed areas concerning feminism? Well, first, it's been brought to public knowledge that lots of women have encountered several times in their lifetime sexual harassment. Be it at their workplace, home, public transportation or in the street. In comparison, sexual harassment is almost non-existing for men. Many women are afraid to walk alone in the streets past some hours. Feminist groups have suggested that some events might then become unmixed in order to preventing any form of aggression or sexual harassment to happen there. [...]
[...] Therefore, the concept of unmixed music concerts has been raised. And some festival organisation have already started hosting unmixed events, with great reviews. Secondly, in Strasbourg for example, on March eight 2019 during the Women's rights day, there was an unmixed gathering. The idea was to ride by bicycle around the city without the presence of men. The goal of that event was to meet only with women in order to share experiences together and have a freedom of speech without feeling judge. [...]
