Scientology is a controversial new aged religion which has grown and shrank quickly over the past few decades. Much about the religion is unknown to the general public aside from the fact that it seems to be popular among celebrities. With their headquarters located on Hollywood Boulevard they have managed to attract celebrities like Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Katie Holmes to their faith. This religion claims to offer much to individuals willing to donate to their church, with answers to almost all of life's mysteries. However many people disagree with scientology, claiming that is a cult movement created simply to generate profit. Regardless of those claims, scientology claims to have over 6 million members with 700 centers in 65 countries and is one of the wealthiest new religions.
[...] Ron Hubbard was also quoted claiming that “Scientology has accomplished the goal of religion expressed in all Man's written history, the freeing of soul through wisdom” (Weldon 2). This may in fact by the most arrogant claim ever to be made by a new age religion as it claims to have more answers than the Koran, Bible, and the Tanakh combined. However unlike Jesus, Moses, and Mohammed; L. Ron has Tom Cruise, John Travolta and other big named celebrities providing “credibility” to his slightly different religion. [...]
[...] But why does the church of Scientology charge money for its services, if money is just another object in an allegedly false universe? Also a former member claimed that “since it is not uncommon for people to spend $ over a decade for their salvation the registrars were making big bucks, buying Porsches and Mercedes-Benzes” (Behar Prophet 3). How does a scientologist justify buying expensive goods when their goal is to rid themselves of material attachment? For those too poor to afford the high rates charged for spiritual salvation there is an alternative method. [...]

A website entitled: Official Dianetics Webpage” proclaims that: “there is a single source of all your problems, stress, unhappiness and self-doubt [find] The real reason for unexplained pains, negative emotions and unhappy relationships in your life and how Dianetics helps you get rid of (http://www.dianetics.org/ pars 5). Therefore not only did this L. [...]
[...] Therefore, Scientology can be defined as an expensive religion/cult which consists of a mixture of science fiction, gadgets and mainstream religious beliefs. Although this religion faces much criticism for its brainwashing techniques, its bizarre author and it's hypocritical use of “church donations” it has made quite an impression on the modern world. Some critics claims that the religion will not last much longer seeing as its overall participation is beginning to fall. Former Scientologists estimate that the strength of the religion has lowered to only fifteen thousand followers. If anything, an individual must respect this religions ability to expand in [...]
[...] Scientologists believe that the mind consists of two parts and controls the body both subconsciously and consciously through the abstract and reactive mind. However to fully understand the concept of the an individual must first learn the “history” behind “Thetans”. Thetans are immortal, perfect, infallible beings which have been around for longer than one could ever imagine. One day .rather on the first day the Thetans became bored and thus created the material universe in order to entertain themselves. This oversized playground eventually became their prison as they became polluted with engrams. [...]
