The agenda setting theory says that mass media influences society through the stories that are labelled newsworthy and the time and space given to them.
I totally agree with this theory. I think we pay more attention to social problems that receive attention in the media and it's normal because the media are our means of information so if the media denounce a social problem, we will pay attention to it and not doubt if it is true or not. But all the social problems are not denounced in the media so some problems, just as serious as the others, are not taken into account and think that it is also a problem.
[...] I think that the violence in media affects individuals in society. First, seeing violence may shock, traumatise some people, or attract fear. But it is also possible that the continued exposure to violence makes individuals become desensitised or react less to violence. Then, the social learning theory says that children learn behaviours and attitudes from role models, with the media acting as one role model that children can draw on.
