Motivation is a concept that all individuals are aware of in some way or form. Motivation is the root of many discussions and the cause of many behaviors in humans and animals. Society wonders what motivates individuals to commit criminal acts despite the obvious consequences and the educational system strives to motivate students to learn, then apply the acquired knowledge to life.
According to Huitt (2001), "Motivation is an internal state of condition (sometimes described as a need, desire or want) that serves to activate or energize behavior and give it direction." There can be no doubt in the statement of the human mind being a very complicated object in its construction and in its responsibilities. However, motivation is a simple concept when considered alone. Humans are motivated or activated by certain needs or desires and this results in behavior of action to complete goals.
