Lifespan maturity is a development starting at conception that carries on pending death. The succession initiates with the materialization of a fetus from a single celled organism. As the fetus is born as a child and enters the world the environment in which the youngster exists begins to influence the child's development (www.infed.org, 2009).
There is said to be four stages of development in a human's life span (McGraw, 2004). The first being childhood and adolescence. This stage includes the age from which conception took place to the age of 16 to 17. The second period of life span development would be the early adulthood years which would consist of the age of 23 to the age of 30 but this stage can be altered form person to person.
Some individuals who do not want to be young and make mistakes in life may have this stage extended or shortened. For the most part there are a many of adolescent individuals that abuse alcohol and some go into drugs or theft at a young age. In the phase of childhood and adolescence scare tactics can work greatly to scare the young individuals in order to have them do well in life to come. In this period of early adulthood it can come into play where an individual is settling down, getting married, and making a family to carry on the family name. For most individuals this is the part of life that they tend to get more mature and stop caring about what people say about them (McGraw, 2004).
[...] The final phase of an individual's life span is categorized as the late adulthood stage. In this period of development individuals have previously foraged lives in which they have chosen to live. It is quite likely that they have retired from their life's career and likely have grandchildren from their children. Medical issues are not uncommon among the individuals in this phase of life. Some individual's may have been on a meditational routine due to the lack of taking care of one's health through the years or just that their body is undergoing its course of life. [...]

[...] The caregivers should always be watchful of how a child is developing so that they do not allow them to be taught something that is not relevant to their life span development at that certain time in their life. Lifespan development continues to evolve through the years as a lifelong process. Each period of life is an important process to the human development. Children progress through milestones, which is a result of parent's education and physical environments (Berger, 2008).
