Our society has changed a lot over the past thirty years, and even more recently, with the digital revolution. Today, we can't imagine our everyday life without a smartphone or a Global Positioning System for example. In such a context, we can wonder what buying the latest technology means and whether it has more advantages or, on the contrary, more drawbacks.
[...] On the other hand, to me, there are many drawbacks when you buy the latest technology. First, it is quite expensive and there are not many people who can afford it. When new items with state-of-the-art technologies appear on the market, some people rush to buy it because they enjoy having something new. However, these new items are not only expensive, but they often become outdated a few months later and are replaced by newer ones. Such a quick evolution of new technologies thus implies another big drawback : the fact that people become the victims of the consumer society, buy a lot, and don't pay enough attention to the environmental problems generated by such an overconsumption.
