As a high school teacher, I am accustomed to confronting ethical dilemmas whose primary responsibility is to care for my students' well-being and academic growth. Making ethical decisions becomes extremely difficult in these cases, requiring careful consideration and weighing opposing moral issues. When there are Friday nights that I am concentrated on studies in the school hall beyond barbarities, it becomes a must that all is order; noise and light are extinguished as the last of daylight is creeping in. I lose myself in the moment, immersed in the tasks assigned to me. A sudden cry from a student with an emotional problem adds turmoil to my privacy, which I had enjoyed alone.
It has made me reflect on the ethical considerations that drive me to make certain decisions that I know are of primary importance. [...] At the same time, along with the commitment to maintain confidentiality, I must also have a chance to uphold the principles of beneficence and nonmaleficence. Proposed Response To deal with the dilemma of revealing the student's internal emotions and perceptions, I prefer to select the medium that influences the student to gain self-awareness and compassion. Since, as a tutor, I also have the responsibility to respect the students' trust and well-being, I need to pay the highest attention and treat them with the calmest compassion. [...]
