Charitable organization, Room to read, poor children
The first step in the analysis is the category of the organization. There are six steps that evaluate whether an organization or a business. The motivation of the founder is often contained in the mission statement of the business, because mission statements often communicate the values of the business and what it works towards. In this case, the organization was started to provide books for poor children, and it aims to reduce the impacts of the environment of on the future of children. For this reason, the organization appears to have a social outlook. Therefore, it passes the first step (Wood, 2006).
The second test is the business model of the organization (Ganju, 2011). The organization is not actually a business. it is dependent on the good will of corporations and individual to generate the money that is then used to achieve its objectives. This model relies on the good will of the society and is therefore, it fits the ‘not for profit' model'. In a world where technology is replacing human labor and survival is increasingly more reliant on education, the best way forward is education. [...]
[...] Therefore, Room to Read should continue expanding in the areas where it is already operational. However, Room to Read has limited presence in the African continent. This is the poorest continent in the world, and a big percentage of children have to walk for long distances in order to get to school. Historically, boys have a better chance at education than girls, especially in third world countries. A family with limited resources is more likely to direct them to educating boys regardless of their academic potential. [...]
