Romantic Period, America/Romanticism
The Romanticism or Romantic Period began in Germany spread to England and France, where it arrived in the U.S at around 1820. The Romantics underrated the significance of individual's expressive art, as well as, that of the society. Romanticism fosters nature's
rewards, values emotion more than intellect and imagination more than reason. The literature of Romanticism has remained firm regardless of other literature genres like poetry, novels, art and music (Pakditawan 6). The 1860 to 1900 period, for the United States refers to the Realism Age. The period received the name because the authors who wrote novels represented it in realistic ways. The Romantic Movement occurred in the United States from 1770 until 1860. Romantic artists valued intuition and imagination as compared to a calculation or reason.
The article discusses the main influences, characteristics and themes in the Romantic Period in the United States of America. The period relates to other styles because it began in Germany where several publications were made and emerged numerous idealist philosophers. The Romanticism in the U.S overlaps with the culture period referred to as "Victorian," which occurred from 1830 to 1880

The conditions resulted in values that uplifted the humankind self, affirmations of instinct and emotion, as well as, the perceived mind. A continent like Europe did not have elements such as freedom, growth and expansion, but Frontier gave America hope of receiving all of those elements. New perspectives and cultures were brought about by imagination.
