Public Administration, regulatory government
Public administration follows the bureaucratic model. The implication is that there are hierarchies that influence the decision making process in public administration. Therefore, the decision makers in public administration are at the top of the bureaucratic models (Croley, 2008). However, there is often an element of political involvement in public administration. The involvement is a function of the need to have representation of the interests of the people in public administration.
The nature of the decision, the structure of the public organization and the level of political involvement therefore determine the key decision makers. In the event of routine decisions, there are models in place that dictate the person with the authority to make the decisions (Croley, 2008). For example, the routine decisions are made by the general careerists in public administration because of their awareness to the decision making process and the relevance of their skills to make the decisions. On the other hand, the relevance of funding by the local authorities entails the influence of political forces in the decision making process (Croley, 2008).
[...] Participation of associates of the public in management also serves the interests of the public. For example, accounting for the opinion of the public in implementation increases public involvement and therefore accounts for the public interests. Public service culture Culture is a way of life. In public administration and management, there are many forms of collaboration. There are collaborations between the career professionals in the organizations and politicians, collaborations between the management and the public and collaborations between two or more public administrations (Peters, 2009). The most important element in the collaborations is their ability to meet the demands and interests of the public. Collaboration between the public organizations and politics is a function of the structures of the public organizations. [...]
