In these modern times counselling and psychotherapy have made contributions to patients that have been received with mixed reactions. The situation in which the whole enterprise is viewed shows that sometimes people are stressed so much that they cannot do anything about it, but just give in and despair. Sometimes, people get solutions, and at other moments they do not. The need for counselling and psychotherapy in the modern living is almost inevitable. However, not all cases about the results from counselling and psychotherapy show that this important enterprise must remain, hence the debate(Rogers,2006).
There are those who dismiss the views against treating people using psychotherapy as being useless, yet some people are very much convinced that these modern fields of treating modern problems are meant for everyone, and are also crucial to everyone. The treatment of the modern problems is what counselling is really all about, whereas psychotherapy is the therapeutic treatment between a professional and a client or patient. These fields are closely related that you cannot easily tell or differentiate them. As such there outcomes are just the same. However, the word ‘outcome' does not mean ‘therapeutic outcome'. Counselling and psychotherapy do need almost same kind of professionals who are to handle these modern problems of disorders, depressions, stress and even conflicts (Davis, 2004).

Blaming can only make things even worse. So caution must be taken in the way of approaching issues (Davies,2006). Controversy about the correct form of psychotherapy or counselling is something that has inevitably taken roots in recent years. If time factor can be argued correctly, then it remains the best as most critics agree that time is the best healer.
