Leadership, the action of leading a group of people or an organization. Often confused and associated with intimidation and insecurity, in my opinion, I am an individual who would like to be viewed as not a leader, but one who leads. When applying leadership to one's career, one is lead to one thing, and that is proper implementation. With proper implementation, a successful career could be inches away from one's grasp. As of this current day, my specific career goal is to attain a position with GQ magazine. This has been a dream and goal of mine that I have wanted to fulfill for a decent amount of time. My parents have always set me on the path of setting up specific objectives and goals for myself and then perusing it by any means necessary. This career choice was chosen under the basic of my likings of the magazine.
I generally figured that I might as well take the two things that I enjoy, marketing and GQ, and combine them. Being as though I am presently a junior in college, my main focus is to receive an amazing internship in my desired field so that I can have a stepping stone into my future. Once I get an internship, I figured that it would allow me to have better insight into what working in my field would be like once I graduate and receive my bachelors in marketing.
To my knowledge, I have been aware that with today's economy, there is a vast amount of graduates who commonly cannot find a job upon graduation, and sometimes it is due to the lack of a master's degree. Once I receive my bachelor's degree, I find it very beneficial to complete a master's degree in fashion. With these joint degrees, I plan to not only still go after a position at GQ magazine, but live the life that I would like to lead. Upon acquiring my desired career, it would of course be a responsibility to maintain professional decorum and proper work ethics to preserve my position.
[...] When holding a position of supremacy, your primary job is to get the job done through the labor of your staff. This may be deemed an arduous task due to improper implementation of enthusiasm. Through my experiences with previous employers and positions of which I've held, I have seem to notice a few tactics of which I plan to implement when I achieve my desired position in life. With that being placed into action, this would permit me to not only gain the respect of those working for me, but validate my capability of distributing directions efficiently and effectively. [...] Through critical literature review, it has become evident that with the concepts previously stated, personal progression as a leader is possible & creating remarkable future goals is anything but unmanageable. Leadership has extensive ways in which it can be applied to one's career. The proper distribution of leadership aspects can be the difference from a person attaining the high paid executive job of which they desire, as opposed to a position of which they are immensely dissatisfied. An aspect that I felt would be most applicable and necessary to my position would be the philosophy of effective communication. [...]
