Large animal rescue the process of interacting with large animals within a rescue situation (Staples, 2006). The other name for large animal rescue is the technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue. It is a specialty form of heavy rescue and emerged in a period of the last 20 years (Lindroth, 2006). Overtime as the number of large animal incidents increased and became common; there was an increased requirement for specialized training in the section of large animal rescue (Edwards, 2010).
In today's world, the public expects today's emergency response professionals to be knowledgeable, skilled and well equipped to respond to the increasing number of various situations. As the newest area in rescue professional is a specialty area of heavy rescue expertise, large animal rescue encompasses a wide variety of methods and tools to use in saving an animal (Lindroth, 2006). Therefore, it is important for large animal rescue professionals to have a good understanding of large animal victim behavior especially those under intense stress of the scene.
