Child Sexual abuse and child exploitation is one of the violent behaviors children face and affects the Childs health as well as their webbings'. Over the last twenty five years, much has been written about the cycle of child sexual abuse. According to National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System in United States, it was concluded that in every 1000 children, 12 are sexually abused. More than 87,000 out of 1 million children become sexually abused. This has led to a great concern on the various preventive measures that can help to curb this growing problem in our society. It is upon the adults and the community responsibility to prevent such risks from occurring time and again. The paper endeavors to discuss the various causes, characteristics and preventive measures on child sexual abuse.
According to Faller (2009), The following are some of the characteristics of sexual abuse cases to children; tongue kissing or rather kissing a child in a sexual manner, fondling with a child's private parts like breasts, genitals or buttocks, a case whereby the culprit rubs their private parts against child's clothing's or a child body, oral genital or oral breast conduct, object penetration to a child's intimate parts and above all having intimate with a child.
Child abuse may lead to the following consequences to a child; early pregnancies to girls and this happens during the early adolescent stage, sexually transmitted diseases, the child may experience difficulties when walking or sitting, the child may also experience penile discharge, bloody under clothing, bruises on the child's mouth as a result of deep kissing, the child also experiences sleepless nights and also pain when the child is urinating or even urinary tract infections (Faller, 2009).

[...] Research shows that the effects of stigmatization may lead to extreme cases of destructive behaviors in our communities; therefore, it is the responsibility of every parent and the community at large to address the issue of sexual abuse to our children (Finkelhor & Jones, 2006). Child sexual abuse also leads to psychological problems whereby the victims suffer from shame and guilt as a result of their abuse. This can be associated with the negative response abused children receive from other children and feel not worthy of living. The children also experience low esteem and this can be concluded from the negative attitudes and responses they receive from other children at school and also the community as many see them as spoiled merchandise. [...] The set program should also ensure that it provides education and promotes an environment that tend to support a healthy development, relationships as well as sexuality, increase the engagement of an effective bystander actions and this helps in facilitating preventive measures of child sexual abuse and exploitation. The community should also collaborate with the media; the policy makers as well as businesses in coming up with a strategy to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation. The child sexual abuse has called for many programs to try and prevent children from being exposed to sexual acts and behaviors. For instance in US, child sexual prevention programs have been implemented to help stop this behavior. [...]
