In the contemporary society, human beings have become so busy that they hardly have time for each other. The idea of an authentic relationship is of great concern to most families today. Learning to live with latest developments in the society is essential in developing healthy relationships amongst people. However, of most concern is the advanced technology, and busy schedules by most people. Families rarely have time for one another, with every family member occupied in his or her activity. Homes are quickly turning into theatres with availability of social media and screens. In America, for instance, almost all households with two children have at least two computers. These electronic devices are primary causes of rift in families with even parents becoming victims. Strange situations are reported involving parents who text or email each other in the house because everyone is occupied. Three authors present analysis of various situations in homes which are useful in developing healthy relationships. They include; Gary Colombo, Peggy Orenstein, and Alex Williams. This paper analyzes various books and articles by these authors which include; "Thinking Critically, Challenging Cultural Myths", "Just between You, Me and My 622 BFFS" and "Quality Time Redefined". The idea of an authentic relationship appeals to everyone. When an individual does not enjoy a good relationship with people he is supposed to be close to, life becomes more stressful, and the burdens seem heavier.
The greatest challenge in developing an authentic relationship in the society today is electronic media. These incorporate all the fun in televisions, computers and laptops. They are life aspects very difficult to ignore, and most people are victims to their influence. Both laptops and phones have games applications in which people spend a great deal of time.
