The twenties may initially seem like a time of innovation in terms of technological advances, pop culture's immense growth, and a major boost in the economy along with many other advances that would make this time period seem to make a "roar" to America waking us up and making us better in every facet. This, however, is nowhere near the truth as the roaring twenties were a time of pros and cons. As one thing succeeded in the time period, another would fail.

These years could have been characterized by many factors such as social unrest and violence, economic difficulties, labor unrest, a growing fear of immigrants and communism, racial tension, a rising middle class, much more leisure time, and prohibition and gangsters. As you can imagine, there were many acts of violence being demonstrated because of this. Strikes were becoming much more common and dangerous. One particular strike and one of the greatest single acts of labor was the Great Steel Strike in January of 1920 involving 350,000 steelworkers; it ultimately ended in failure. [...]

Blacks also didn't do well during these times since farmers were laying off a bunch of their workers and migrating north looking for work there. [...]
