Myths, heroes, sixties, mythical decade, Great Britain, notion of myths, story, color TV, transistor radio, culture, music, movie, pirates, society, convey a message
I am going to ponder over the notion of myths and heroes. So, before all, let me introduce it. A myth is a very abstract thing: it can refer to a famous story, true or false, about a god, a hero, or someone special who makes a difference, who embodies an idea. To cut the story short, I would say something mythical is something exceptional, holding attention, and remaining in time, crossing the ages to convey a message.
[...] Therefore, women could decide to have a baby or not, to work, to have a sexual intercourse without being married . and I believe that the most positive consequence was the decrease of the number of abortions. Furthermore, we can't ignore the struggle led by the women for equal pay. To sum up, the sixties has turned gloomy Great Britain into a shining country, and it's the reason why we can talk about a mythical decade. People lived a life without problems, and liberated themselves from the dark memories, and of the past social requirements. [...]

Indeed, listening to an audio document entitles ‘Memories of the sixties', we discovered that a huge part of our actual technical equipment is due to this period. Among the three persons interviewed, one is particularly nostalgic for his first color TV and also the transistor radio that he could transport everywhere owing to its small size. Another person is marked by the car's democratisation: as he says ‘ordinary families' could afford to buy cars. [...]
