There are many theories on management. Taylor's Classical Theory comprising Scientific Management, Fayol's Administrative Management and Weber's Bureaucratic Organization.
Frederick Winslow Taylor (1856 – 1915, Philadelphia) is known as the Father of Scientific Management and is considered as one of the first most successful Management Consultants. He became famous for his ‘Time and Motion Study' and the ‘Piece Rate' system which he introduced.
Taylor imposed the principles of scientific management, and the fact-finding approach put forward and largely adopted was a replacement for what had been the old rule of thumb.
In 1895, a piece rate system on production management was also introduced, and later, in 1909, he published the book for which he is best known, Principles of Scientific Management.
Taylor has made major contributions to the management theory and practice. His scientific management theories still are the examples to some industries. He called for “Mental Revolution” on the part of the management and labour. Rather than increasing profits both sides should try to increase production.

[...] Frederick W Taylor's Scientific Management Theory To boost specialisation and division of labour, this made the process more efficient. To thoroughly analyze the relationship between the worker and task and improve processes to make certain maximum efficiency. To have written procedures for each task and ensure they are followed by command and quality control. To get most success for both the employer and employee by involving pay and other rewards directly to work output. Select workers with the right skills and abilities for the exact task and carefully guide them to follow the measures. [...]
[...] His Theory of Scientific Management argued the following: Labourers as expected did not enjoy work and so they need close administration and control. Therefore managers should break down production into a series of small tasks. Workers should then be given appropriate training and tools so they can work as efficiently as possible on one set task. Workers are then paid according to the number of items they produce in a set period of time- piece-rate pay. As a result workers are encouraged to work hard and maximise their productivity. [...]
[...] Theory X takes a relative pessimistic and negative view of workers. Theory Y represents the assumptions that human relations advocates make. The point of Theory Y is that organizations can take advantage of the imagination and intellect of all its employees. Abraham Maslow, developed one of the most broadly accepted need theories, a theory of motivation based upon a consideration of human needs. His theory of human needs had three theories: Human needs are never completely satisfied. Human behaviour is purposeful and is motivated by the need for satisfaction. [...]
