The multinational company Walt Disney was founded in 1923 by Walt Disney. Today, it is one of the largest entertainment groups in the world. The company is located in the state of Delaware and is headquartered in Burbank, California. In 2005, the firm had more than 125,000 employees with a turnover of 30.8 billion.
The slogan of the company has always been: "Where the Magic Lives". Walt Disney Company is active in several business sectors including television, radio, animation, film and tourism with theme parks. Walt Disney is one of the best known brands in the world. It represents a universe by itself , a childlike and magical environment. Whatever the business sector, through these characters, Walt Disney has captured and stayed in people's minds.
Walt Disney has a number of subsidiaries , which include the American Broadcasting Company or ABC, a U.S. media company that broadcasts the programs of radio networks and television of the same name. ABC has been part of the Walt Disney Company since 1996.
Buena Vista Entertainment is responsible for the dispensing of products of the multinational Walt Disney Company. The company was first established in 1954 under the name of Buena Vista Pictures. Distribution by Walt Disney is no longer linked to other film groups. Disney was then distributed by RKO. The company was renamed in 1961 as Buena Vista Distribution and later Buena Vista Entertainment only because of the many activities of society.
Walt Disney Pictures is a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, founded by Walt Disney and that is the origin of society; it is its core business.
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is one of the pillars of the company. It was created in 1952 partly for the construction and management of Disneyland, but was actually commissioned in 1971 for the opening of the second American Disney Park, Walt Disney World.
The Disney Consumer Products division includes the rights to the products and the store was renamed Disney Online, with a Direct link to SVC, Disney Catalog. The products include both hardware and clothing through toys, books or videogames. But the media (CD, DVD and others) are associated with the entertainment division and studios across different groups of Buena Vista.
The Disney Corporation Businesses often seen in the "copyrights" (property rights) is a member of this division.
