During the seminar, we used different case studies of the US management and leadership in applying theoretical concepts. In this assignment, I have chosen to analyze the CEO of the company Apple because of its particular way to lead the company that he created. Steve Jobs was trained as an engineer and was not prepared to become the head of a company generating a 24 billion dollar turnover. Steve Jobs has used a particular way to manage his company and his team towards success. The qustions that come up are, the way of leading his company reflects a leader or manager ? Did Steve Jobs meet difficulties to set up his way of thinking? How did he manage the quick growth of his company? In the seminar, we improved the definition of corporate entrepreneurship as 'the sum of the organization's innovation, renewal, and venturing efforts.' Thus, does Apple corporate entrepreneurship management correspond to this definition? The success of Apple is effectively mainly based on its capacity to provide new products.

Firstly, it is well in his individual nature to innovate and be interested in other business areas. Secondly, his family did not really be interested in helping him to do studies but his school environment and people that he met such as his neighbor Larry Lang working as an engineer with Hewlett Packard, and Stephen Wozniak with whom he launch his first computer in his garage, had a strong influence on him in his corporate entrepreneurship abilities. Thus, we can ask ourselves if this corporate entrepreneurship is more linked to his individual skills to lead the company. Indeed, the corporate entrepreneurship is based on three elements. [...] The second one was Overture Services, Inc. and its web search engine AltaVista, which used software based on advanced algorithms to create an automated search. The second one is the fact that web surfers find Google's web search engine pleasant to use. It is really easy-to-use and simple to understand how to find what we are searching, just in tapping key words. Moreover, the results are relevant and information is fast downloaded. If we appreciate to use Google, it is also because, contrary to many competitors, its web search engine presents few advertisings, which are discrete without image and only some sentences. [...]
[...] As for Apple, the strength of Google is its capacity to improve new tools such as Gmail and Google Desktop Search, to develop its business in other area, such as in China in 2006 and to acquire new companies, such as Blogger and Picasa, in order to add new competencies to Google. In 2007, through this corporate entrepreneurship's strategy, the company generates a sales turnover of $16,4 billion and employs 16,000 persons. Thus, Larry Page and Sergey Brin succeeded in the corporate entrepreneurship thanks to a new idea that corresponded to customers' needs. Amazon Amazon was one of the first companies to develop e-business activities thanks to its e-commerce on the website www.amazon.com. The company began to sell books on Internet and succeeded to improve its e-business to other products. [...]
